About Our District

The Central Highlands region is in Central Queensland, Australia. The region encompasses an area of around 60 000 square kilometres, making it just short of the size of Tasmania. It is home to around 30 000 people who live in the thirteen unique communities of Arcadia Valley, Bauhinia, Blackwater, Bluff, Capella, Comet, Dingo, Duaringa, Emerald, Rolleston, Sapphire Gemfields, Springsure and Tieri. Golf Central Highlands consists of nine member clubs within the region.

The objects for which the Golf Central Highlands Association was established for were:

• To promote and foster the game of golf generally and in particular throughout the Association's District by such means and in such manner as may be within the power of the Association.
• To enforce, as far as possible, the observance by all golfers of the rules and etiquette of golf and rules of Amateur status as laid down, from time to time, by R & A Rules Limited and The United States Golf Association.
• To control and regulate all Association Championships, Open carnivals, Pennant matches, and matches between the Association and other organisations (herein called "controlled events") with power to allot the planning, management and control of such events to a Member Club or Clubs.
• To establish dates in each calendar year on which Members will conduct their open and closed championships, and any other special events to avoid conflict and promote mutual benefit throughout the District preserving so far as possible the arrangements traditionally in place for each member.
• To limit the number of invitation events which a Member may hold where there may be an adverse effect on another Member.
• To select zone representatives for district or national matches and events.
• To decide with the consent of the members concerned all matters which may be an inter club issue that may be referred to it by a Member Club, including a dispute between members subject nevertheless to any right of appeal through the Association to Golf Queensland.
• To appoint such sub-committees as may be considered necessary to perform the functions of the Association. To adopt and to follow, wherever practicable, the objects in the Constitution of Golf Queensland.
• To do all such other lawful things as are necessary for or incidental to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.

Golf Queensland Limited (Golf Queensland) was formed in July 2007 following the successful unification of the Queensland Golf Union and Women's Golf Queensland.  Golf Queensland was established to be the governing State body of golf and of affiliated Member District Associations and Affiliated Golf Clubs in Queensland. Golf Queensland aims to promote and foster the game of golf, preserve its traditions and encourage existing golfers to realise their potential and athletic abilities and develop golfing talent.

Golf Queensland is dedicated to promoting improved facilities for the enjoyment of golf, while ensuring that environmental considerations are taken into account in all golf and related activities conducted by the organisation.  Golf Queensland also promotes health and safety in golf, and is involved in formulating and implementing appropriate policies. This includes policies in relation to equal opportunity, equity, drugs in sport, health, safety, junior and senior programs, member protection and other matters that arise from time to time as issues to be addressed in the sport.  Golf Queensland has a dedicated team of staff involved in administering the rules of the game and to decide upon questions concerning the interpretation of the rules. The organisation also acts as the delegate of Golf Australia in the administration, interpretation and enforcement of the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by the R&A.  The organisation is also available to adjudicate upon disputes referred by a Member District Association or Affiliated Golf Club in respect to a decision by an association or club.   There is also a department dedicated to managing State golf championship events and other golf tournaments further promoting the golf in Queensland.
